“Regressive PPPA amendments a sign of ‘reformati’” is my comments on the reportedly amendments to the Printing Presses and Publications Act 1984. It was published in Malaysiakini on 2 December 2024.

This is an issue I have been following for the past three decades. All media laws are politically motivated.

During the Barisan National era, many NGOs and intellectuals would criticise the government’s move to tighten media laws and regulations. After Pakatan Harapan came to power, although some NGOs and intellectuals still speak out, many of those who criticised the BN government in the past have chosen to ignore it.
